Setup eduroam wifi

Google Chromebook

  1. Download the University of Leicester root certificate (Right click on this link and choose Save link as...) to your Desktop and click Run or Open
  2. Click the status section in the bottom right corner of the screen
  3. Click Settings > Show advanced settings >Manage certificates
  4. Under Authorities click Import
    Certificate manager
  5. Choose the University of Leicester root certificate (lerootca.pem) from your Downloads folder and click Open
  6. Check all the trust settings, then click OK

  7. Click Finished in the Certificate Manager window
  8. In settings, under Internet connection (back at the top) choose eduroam from the wifi network list
  9. In the pop-up, click Configure
  10. Choose the following settings
    Join wifi network
    EAP method: PEAP
    Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
    Server CA certificate: University of Leicester
    Identity: Your University email address (Students: @student.le.ac.uk, Staff: @le.ac.uk. If you have a Friendly email address you will need to use your University IT account username followed by @le.ac.uk)
    Password: Your University IT account password
  11. Click Connect. You should now be connected to eduroam wifi.

If you were using Setup-UniOfLeic-Wifi to access these instructions, you can now remove it from your laptop/device so that it does not connect to this network accidentally:

  1. In settings, under Internet connection choose Setup-UniOfLeic-Wifi from the wifi network list
  2. Uncheck Automatically connect to this network
  3. Click Close
